- OD Hotels presents the Communication Award at the twelfth Onda Cero Ibiza and Formentera Awards 2024.
OD Hotels entrega el premio a la comunicación en los duodécimos premios Onda Cero Ibiza y Formentera 2024.
At OD, we are deeply aware that all our actions have an impact on the world around us and the society we live in. Among our values is the desire to help and support initiatives that promote a fairer society for all.
As a company founded in Ibiza, we are particularly interested in generating positive changes "at home", and we are proud sponsors of the Onda Cero Ibiza and Formentera Awards 2024.
As in previous years, the Onda Cero Ibiza and Formentera Awards aim to recognise and support individuals, groups, and projects that contribute to improving society in the Pitiusas Islands in all areas, as well as those who stand out for their work both within and outside the islands.
In its twelfth edition, OD Hotels will have the honour of presenting the Onda Cero Ibiza and Formentera Communication Award to Jordi Pereyra, considered one of the most prominent communicators in science and technology. He has been widely known nationally since the creation of his blog "Ciencia de Sofá" in 2013, through which he generates interest in these topics among all types of audiences, always using a welcoming language and his characteristic sense of humour. Anna Bigas, Head of Institutional Relations at OD Hotels, will present the award.

The jury will also recognise individuals and groups in the following categories:
- Antoni 'Toni' Arabí, considered one of the most important football players in Ibiza, will receive the Sports Award for his professional career both locally in SD Ibiza and SD Portmany and nationally.
- Hematologist Estella Matutes Juan will be recognised with the Health Award for her outstanding research work at institutions such as the Institute of Cancer Research or the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. She is also the creator of an antigen analysis that allows the diagnosis of the most common leukaemia, already used internationally as the Matutes Score.
- The Tourism Award will go to experienced communicator, public relations, and writer Carlos Martorell, one of the main promoters of the islands worldwide.
- The shipping company Trasmapi, which celebrates a century of activity this year and is the leading company in the islands, will receive the Business Award.
- Never Alone Ibiza, the non-profit association formed by volunteers from various professional fields, will receive the Solidarity Award for their support, active listening, entertainment, and creation of leisure activities for patients admitted to the Can Misses Hospital in Ibiza.
- The Education Award will go to IES Marc Ferrer in this edition, an educational centre in Formentera that has become a reference for its study programs, including the application of Artificial Intelligence to business from an ethical and responsible perspective, and for being the first school in the Balearic Islands free of mobile phones.
- The Environment Award will be given to the Ibiza Botanical Biotechnology space, dedicated to environmental care and biotechnological dissemination among people of all ages.
- The Educational Robotics Club of Ibiza will receive the Science and Research Award for its educational and outreach work in the field of robotics, which has led local young people to participate in world competitions and educational robotics olympiads both nationally and internationally.
- Art and culture have been historically linked to the Pitiusas islands. This year, the Art Award will celebrate Joan Barbé and Omar Gisbert’s musical project ‘Ressonadors’. This project has revived traditional songs from Ibiza and Formentera and brought them closer to all audiences using genres such as pop or rock.
- The Culture Award will go to Vera Sykora, a renowned Czech professor and pianist responsible for training local musicians for decades.
Finally, this year, the Jury of the XII Onda Cero Ibiza and Formentera Awards has unanimously decided to grant a Special Award to the Ibiza Yacht Club, which is about to celebrate 100 years of existence, helping the Ibiza civil society in different areas in a situation of maximum uncertainty pending the possible decision of the Balearic Port Authority to withdraw the management of its facilities.
The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 18 at 7:00 p.m. at the Jesús Cultural Center, and as proud sponsors of these prestigious awards in the Balearic Islands, OD Hotel will not miss the event.
