- Ocean Drive Sevilla and The Sevillaner
At OD Hotels, we are proud to present the collaboration between our Ocean Drive Sevilla hotel and the illustration project The Sevillaner, activating our brand territory by fostering a local community.
This project was born out of love for the city of Seville and serves as a tribute to The New Yorker. We partnered with illustrator Ulises Fernández to develop this very special initiative.
The postcard created showcases La Sevillana, reimagining tradition with a contemporary vision that merges the contrasts of day and night to tell a timeless story of Seville. Each frame is a keepsake capturing the essence and iconic details of the city. The protagonist wears the night, her dark hair blending with the stars, while the day unfolds full of light and vibrant colors.
Next to her, Curro symbolizes the duende flamenco. His beer, an essential element of Seville’s social life, shines golden among orange trees and azahar blossoms. The stars in the sky add a dreamy touch, celebrating the harmony between tradition and modernity in Seville, where the Ocean Drive Sevilla hotel is located at Las Setas.
To promote this initiative, during the launch party held on November 21, 150 prints were gifted to attendees.
This initiative was spearheaded by Sevillian illustrator Antonio Copete, who, during a typography and layout class, was tasked with creating a fictional magazine. This union aims to build a community of artists and support art, producing covers like the one we present here, which are now being created in other cities worldwide.
The goal of this project is to bring these works to the streets and the general public through various channels: dissemination on social media, press and blogs, radio, product sales in different spaces, and collective exhibitions in both galleries and restaurants.
