Electronic Music: Ibiza 2020

September has arrived, and in Ibiza it seems to be November already. The summer of 2020 will be remembered for the rest of our lives because of the events already known to all... In the special edition of our magazine this year, we wanted to talk to 6 artists from the island so that they could tell us about the differences they have experienced in any other year, in this atypical and fateful 2020, which we want to end now...

DJ OLIVER

Your best moment in Ibiza 2019?
There were many superb moments but I'm left with 2, the first being the birth of my daughter Noor, the best thing that has ever happened to me. And the other was the Pandora's party we had in Pacha every Wednesday, pure happiness.



What have you discovered in this atypical and rare 2020 on the island?
I have remembered my first years on the island, in the 90s, when the island was not so full. But I miss a little more life in the day and in the night.

What are you dedicating more time to now?
Well, right now I'm enjoying my daughter almost all day, and in the evenings I'm producing in the new studio, very happy!



THE SURUBA

Your best moment in Ibiza 2019 was? 
 The "all night long" session we did in Las Dalias on September 1st. Incredible energy and audience, unforgettable.

What did you discover in this atypical and rare 2020 on the island? 
Discovering and rediscovering places that were already special and that with the rest that the island has experienced, are more beautiful than ever.

What are you dedicating more time to now? 
Working more in the studio and producing our weekly Sunday event in Las Dalias. (all of them with full capacity since the first week) and as this is the current situation, we feel very privileged and happy to see that it is possible for the public to enjoy respecting the security measures.


FRANCISCO ALLENDES

Your best moment in Ibiza in 2019 was? 
Receiving the Ibiza DJ Award at the DJ Awards with my wife and team.

What have you discovered in this atypical and rare 2020 on the island? 
I have discovered Volley Beach, despite being very bad, I was hooked on the first one. We play every week 2-3 times with other friends djs, bookers, managers, since we are all more available than usual.

What are you dedicating more time to now? 
I'm sleeping a lot more hours than usual, spending time with my family, doing a lot of sports and studying the economy every morning. I have a lot of free overtime that I didn't have before.

ANNA TUR

Your best moment in Ibiza 2019 was? 
Whenever good things happen to me on a professional level, my dear friend Gonçalo is close by. I think it's a matter of pure connection. I have good memories of my "global" image of 2019, actually. My best moment on a professional level.

What have you discovered in this atypical and rare 2020 on the island? 
For me 2020 is a year to forget. I see that we are adrift, I am very concerned about the current normality, at the political, social, economic level... I do not feel represented by anything, or by anyone at this time. I do not see that we have learned by stopping the world. I read the news every day, I inform myself through different channels and they all lead me to the same conclusion: uncertainty. In the networks, a "social aggressiveness" that does not seem normal to me.

What are you dedicating more time to now? 
Above all, to myself. I don't think I've ever devoted any time to myself before. I am in a moment of serenity and security that makes my life in general more pleasant. Now I'm at the top of my game to relaunch IMA, which has become a small booking agency and a full service company for brands and artists. I am well surrounded and we are having many interesting proposals, some directly linked to the radio.

ALEX KENNON

What was your best moment in Ibiza 2019?
My best moment in Ibiza 2019 was quite a few. First being invited by Pete Tong at his party at Blue Marlin closing after him, was a great honour. Also incredible Cova Santa after the geniuses of Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano. Another was the great closing of the Dance or Die party of my good friend Nic Fanciulli together with the legend of Carl Cox in Ushuaia. Those were my best moments of Ibiza 2019, which I remember as something very beautiful and important for me as an artist and as a person.

What have you discovered in this atypical and rare 2020 on the island? 
There is a lot to say and a lot to leave out about Ibiza 2020. The truth is that it's a shame to see the island without what we've been used to seeing for many years, clubs, parties, etc... that have made this place mythical. On the other hand it is very important to safeguard the next season and the health of the people. Ibiza is a limited island and does not have many hospital resources, so it is important to go a little "careful".

What are you dedicating more time to now? 
I'm spending a lot of time now finishing up important musical projects and collaborations that will come out in the next few months like one with Pete Tong and others. I'm also spending time on sports and nature with my friends and family. In the first week of July I was lucky enough to perform again in Switzerland in a club limited to only 300 people and the feeling was very nice. I hope that we will be able to dance together again soon without any restrictions.



MIANE

Your best moment in Ibiza 2019 was? 
Without a doubt 2019 was one of my best years in the industry. Among many moments I can highlight the moment when Matthias Tanzmann played my track "House so House" when I was behind him on the stage in Ushuaïa, I think I will never forget that feeling in life, the cross looks and the satisfaction he gave me, was incredible.

What have you discovered in this atypical and rare 2020 on the island? 
I think that I, as well as the other residents, have discovered another way to take advantage of the island. It's a bit strange, but anyone who is in love with the island like me knows how to take advantage of these times.

What are you dedicating more time to now? 
Normally I am always in the studio, but now I dedicate much more time to it and also to expanding my knowledge.
