ATLAS is a work that exists between the real and the unreal, the abstract and the surreal, between experimentation and planning, in short, between order and chaos.
By recycling all leftover paint and products, Mark Zimmermann has discovered a way to create paintings that resemble a satellite view of a planet.
The technique involves pouring paint, water, solvent, alcohol, enamels, and more materials onto paper, canvas, wood, vinyl, methacrylate, and discarded objects.
To use the full range of colors and thus reuse absolutely all the products, MZDC78, the artist’s alias, experiments with painting sunsets.
With this approach, Mark achieves a homogeneous and complete result. Duality and contrasts are part of his style.
