The construction of Las Setas, officially known as the Metropol Parasolwas started in 2005 and completed in 2011. This impressive example of contemporary architecture was designed by the German architect Jürgen Mayerwho was inspired by the vaults of Seville Cathedral and the ficus trees in the nearby Plaza de Cristo in Burgos to create a structure that is not only functional but also aesthetically stunning.
